Rating: 4/10
Island of the Blue Dolphins gets the lowest rating so far. For me at least, it kind of felt like the writer was just writing for the sake of it at the middle and end of the book, so it was extremely boring. The book is about Karana, a girl who used to live with her tribe on a small island, until otter hunters drove them away. The tribe fled the island, but Karana's brother was left behind. Then Karana jumped into the water and swam toward the island to get her brother, but by that time the boat had already left. Then, some days later, Karana's brother is savaged and killed by wild dogs. Now, up to this point, the book is interesting and kind of keeps you on your feet but after this it becomes extremely boring. Karana basically just makes weapons and shelter and starts living alone and surviving purely off of nature, but nothing new happens. She just lives her life. Then, 18 years later, Karana is rescued from the island and is taken to Santa Barbara, California. All in all, not exactly a good read, and I don't really recommend it that much. Now, happy reading!
