I really like Matilda, by Roald Dahl because it kind of reminds me of Harry Potter. A kid with special powers (in this case extreme brainpower) is abused by their family. The story follows Matilda, an English girl who is extremely smart. At her school, the teacher notices this and talks to Matilda's parents, but they don't care. To them, Matilda is like an irksome fly. The headmistress, Ms. Trunchbull, is also extremely abusive to all the students, not just Matilda. I really like how Matilda uses her brains to do something impossible in the real world, which is literally make objects levitate. This book is greatly balanced. It is probably the most hilarious book I've ever read, yet it also seems a bit serious and somber, especially at the end, when Matilda finds that her teacher is so poor she barely has a house. Matilda then uses her brains hilariously to get her teacher money and a proper house, though I wouldn't want to spoil exactly what happened. Hilarity combined with a great, meaningful plot makes Matilda a great book. Now, Happy Reading!
